Director’s statement
"D3stro" is the third installment of an unconventional trilogy. Despite this categorization, each installment stands on its own, and is unrelated to the others. However, they all explore a common and sinister theme: self-consumption, in other words, self-destruction. This short film delves into the sinister topic of consensual cannibalism, a subject matter that may unsettle some viewers due to the conventions of the horror genre and the taboo nature of the theme. As a filmmaker aiming to approach horror from a more aesthetic perspective, I wrote, shot, and edited this short film with more emphasis on the chilling and erotic aspects surrounding the theme and less on the gore details of the situation. Setting aside the shock value, this film’s intention is to provoke and start conversations about this paraphilia, which is practiced by individuals around the world (in some countries it is legally permitted) and often shared and fulfilled in the privacy of their homes.
